I love fashion, I keep up with the new trends every season and I follow with interest the creations of designers. But I never, ever, blindly follow what is suggested on the catwalk. Fashion is a personal way of expression and communication, so it must represent my style and mood, be fun and not copy-paste!
Fashion is fun!
Every season new trends are launched by fashion designers. My advice is to treat them as suggestions, not commands. You have your own style, it is to be expected that not everything suits you. Choose only what you like and express yourself, and avoid becoming fashion victims. Think of fashion as an interesting way to present yourself. Don't stress about adopting an innovative style and don't rush to throw away clothes that are now considered out of fashion. You can recycle them, literally and figuratively. If you really don't like them anymore, throw them in the special red fabric recycling bins. Otherwise, think of ways to make fresh combinations with each other and change their style with some new additions to your wardrobe. Keep your style and experiment with new trends by mixing pieces you already own.
Fashion is comfort and ergonomics!
A key criterion when I stand in front of my wardrobe and decide what to wear is to feel and move comfortably where I'm going. For example, I will not choose a skirt to take my children for a walk on the playground. It is important to choose clothes that do not hinder our movements and do not oblige us to correct them every now and then so that they look right on us.
I prefer fabrics that hug the body and offer movement. I choose pleasant textures and fabrics that are not too processed, to allow my skin to breathe. For example, I wouldn't sacrifice my comfort for an impressive polyester garment, at the risk of making me sweat more. Clothing should not in any way make it difficult for us, because then it wears us, we don't wear it!
Fashion is freedom!
Many are afraid of being criticized for their clothing choices and avoid experimenting with new trends and different combinations of colors, fabrics, patterns and accessories. They always end up with safer options, as a result of which they don't evolve their style and feel trapped by a certain way of looking for fear of making a stylistic mistake. But fashion is synonymous with freedom. It can be conservative, but it can also be subversive. It can be whatever you want, as long as you feel good in the clothes you wear. Remember that at the end of the day, there is no right and wrong style. There is only the style that expresses your true self!
