Ma vie en… rosewater!
It is perhaps the most widespread beauty water known since ancient Egypt, when Queen Cleopatra enjoyed swimming among rose petals. Rose water dominates many cosmetic products, but also my bathroom, as its multiple beneficial properties have made it one of my favourite hydrosols!
Rose water is distilled from the boiling of rose petals. It has a special place in my heart as it is easy to prepare at home, it is suitable for any skin type (even the most sensitive) and it stands out for its rejuvenating, soothing and antiseptic properties. It is rich in powerful antioxidants and has a nice distinctive aroma that has been shown to calm the central nervous system. Let's see how we can use it!
- Rose water as an anti-wrinkle treatment
Rose water has anti-wrinkle action, as it is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. Rose water reduces oxidative stress and maintains support for the connective tissue of the epidermis.
- Rose water as a soothing lotion
Rose water is rich in anti-inflammatory substances that soothe skin redness and generally redness associated with rosacea, spider veins and acneic skin. Thanks to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, rose water relieves irritation and itching, calms and softens the skin.
- Rosewater as a Face Mist
Face mists, which are essentially moisturizing facial sprays, immediately restore the balance in skin pH. Rose water can act as an excellent face mist, as it corrects the skin's pH, restoring normal levels of acidity and alkalinity. It is a very cool and soothing solution for winter and summer.
- Rose water as a natural makeup remover
Common make-up remover products contain alcohol and aggressive chemicals that dehydrate the skin, and are often unsuitable for sensitive skin. Rose water is a natural and milder alternative to makeup removal. Mixing it with a few drops of natural oil can help remove even the most durable makeup without being aggressive to the skin. On the contrary, it moisturizes the skin and gives a pleasant aroma. Also, I like to spray pure rose water on my face before makeup, as a natural moisturizing base, and I also spray it over my makeup to freshen it after a long shoot!
- Rose water as hair conditioner
The nourishing and moisturizing properties of rose water make it an ideal treatment for dull and lifeless hair. It acts as a natural conditioner. Also, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it soothes mild inflammation on the scalp and fights dandruff.
Rose water is one of the key ingredients of the moisturizing beauty bomb that I always carry with me throughout the day. You can find and follow the step by step DIY recipe to prepare your own moisturizing lotion in the related video on my GoodLife by Gina YouTube channel!
